Wearing a white tux with a light pink vest and tie to prom?

To start off i am Dominican with dark skin so i look black. To my prom I am wearing a white tuxedo with a light pink vest and a light pink tie to match my girlfriend's date. My girlfriend isn't sure how she feels about it, but i try to convince her that because i am dark, that the white and light pink will go great with my skin tone. Am i right or wrong? and im not scrawny or short im 6 feet and i have a fair amount of muscle from lifting and sports so i'll fill out the suit well. Also my girlfriend is chinese. nothing to do with the question but we're super interracial so it's awesome.
