Biology: "loosing weight" ^_^?

Q: (DNP) dinitrophenol was used during 1940 to loose weight...(how it works?-->) DNP uncouples the chemiosmotic machinery by making the lipid bilayer of the inner mitochindrial membrane leaky to H+...now HOw does this cause weight loss.?
