If you did believe in the christian god, how would you have any respect for him..?

I know exactly what you mean! How is this god even close to being considered "just"? You get thrown in the pit of fire simply over the trivial cause of not believing! In other words, your good actions, your moral behavior, your positive effect on people and this world means nothing when compared to your spiritual beliefs. How is that just? How is that even reasonable?
