Can anyone give me some information on becoming a paralegal?
First off, Your four year degree is not worthless! You finished school and stuck throu it through thick and thin as for the dead end low paying jobs all I can say is you have to pace yourself anywhere you go, get periodic job performance reviews and when appropriate ask for raises. If u are interested in the legal field think of everything you did that relates to it and network with professionals who have put their degrees to good use. Im sure there is relevance you can apply in your studies towards your career aspirations, whether they be in the law or any other field. Just start getting familiarized with the legal terms and laws, choose a specific area of law for instance say, family law and get familiarized with the forms they use. Also perfect your grammar and people skills, You have to be very persistent and have a keen attention to detail. You must posess the ability to work under pressure at all times and an undying commitment to this field because it is very competetive!. For starters you may go to a community college and get a cetificate or ociate degree in Paralegal studies and maybe do an internship when your past the legal research phase of the program. Just make sure is ABA approved; accredited or appoved by the American Bar ociation. Good luck and Best of wishes to you.
